Curriculum

Physical Development
In our physical development lessons at The Livity School, we aim to create a fun learning environment, with a variety of topics covered throughout the year.
Topics covered include gymnastics, games and athletics. Our lessons are designed to promote gross motor skills, co-ordination and confidence.

As well as class lessons we offer one-to-one and small group exercise mentoring. These sessions are aimed at promoting fitness and strength, health, flexibility and improving general physical function.

At The Livity School, we believe physical development should be accessible to all. We strive to ensure that every child feels included and has an increased sense of independence and confidence.
Physical Development & MOVE
MOVE
What do we mean by MOVE?
The MOVE Programme is a child-centred framework used to help teaching the skills of sitting, standing, transferring and walking. It is used by teachers, teaching assistants, families, multidisciplinary teams and anybody else supporting the pupil to help them gain functional movement to the best of their ability.
What does it look like?
Daily opportunities to practice sequences of movements. This might include raising to stand from a chair by pulling up on a table or taking steps on uneven surfaces. MOVE activities can include hydrotherapy, cycling, sensory circuits, dance or My Body lessons.
How do we know it is working?
Teachers use the MOVE assessment framework to track pupil progress. This information is used to help write meaningful goals and plan activities alongside the team around the pupil, including families and multidisciplinary teams.
